The instruction manual for use, mandatory upon entry into force of the Tools Directive, must be able to provide all the information necessary to ensure safe and secure use correct tools.
Unclear, badly organized or lacking information manuals are often the cause of customer dissatisfaction or, worse still, they can contribute to the application of sanctions by the authorities in case of disputes.
WORKER'S RESPONSIBILITY
It is primarily the responsibility of the producer or the agent to provide complete, reliable and correct documentation, in relation to the principle of objective responsibility of a defective product established by Directive 85/374 / EC. This activity is important regardless of the duty of the Machinery Directive, considering the additional assumptions of liability (criminal and non) and in the case in which, due to incorrectly provided instructions, it may cause damage to people.
In this regard it is useful to remember that according to the precedent Machinery Directive, a product is defined as faulty when it does not offer the necessary safety, taking into account all the situations in which the "instructions and warnings provided" are included.
It follows that the instructions for use drawn up in an equivocal way, unclear to the recipient, are the same to a defect of the product and the worker is called to answer for any damage caused to people or things.
TRAINING
A Training manual is an instruction manual, specifically designed to provide specific training, shifting knowledge on one or more operations to be performed.
Training manuals are commonly useful in the following situations:
- as an introduction to the theme before training
- as a support that allows the user or maintenance technician to concentrate and participate more in training instead of taking detailed notes
